Hi all 👋 I am currently evaluating MetaFlow for our data science team and have a couple questions. About half of the team uses
R
as their primary language. I see that there is R support, but it is in "maintenance mode." Is there any more information one can give about
R
support? A couple immediate questions come to mind: 1. What does "maintenance mode" mean? 🙂 2. What features are missing compared to python? 3. Are there plans to continue maintaining this language? 4. If so, is there a backlog where I can find next steps / timelines?
bumping this one 🙂 I'd appreciate any insights on
R
capabilities

Hi @refined-insurance-51213! Sorry for the delay here. R support for metaflow is not entirely at parity with all the features that Pythonic metaflow offers today.
As of this moment, we are not doing active development on the codebase but we may pick it up at a later date if there is suitable demand for these R bindings

Thanks @ancient-application-36103! is there a way to figure out which features are not at parity? I'm looking to help set expectations for the set of R users so that they are not blindsided by missing functionality. Also, would the R package still work with a self-hosted AWS MetaFlow setup? I'm hoping that at least it is compatible with the backend side of things so that everyone can point to the same ECS system, for example.
