Hi. I have been attempting to bring up AWS cloud resources for Metaflow using CloudFormation. (I'm following the instructions on https://docs.outerbounds.com/engineering/deployment/aws-managed/cloudformation/#steps-for-aws-cloudformation-deployment) It's failing and the "Likely root cause" is that it cannot find Postgres 16.1. Other research (https://repost.aws/questions/QUX8YgP5yCT-GuhoBJAsWj8w/a-lot-of-postgres-versions-suddenly-deprecated) shows that many Postgres versions were deprecated and ceased to be usable on 31 March 2025. A recommendation was to update to 16.6 or higher. I'm planning to edit the cloudformation template ("metaflow-cfn-template.yml"). Can I simply change the Postgres version with no other changes to the template (e.g. due to version conflicts)? What version of Postgres would you recommend to change to? Thanks! bpw

Hey Brian — our recommended way if you’re doing this on your own is to use: https://docs.outerbounds.com/engineering/deployment/aws-managed/terraform/ This is more actively maintained, that CloudFormation template hasn’t been updated in a while unfortunately.

Thanks utkarsh. I had messed with terraform a few months ago and it sorta terrified me, so I chose CloudFormation. I can give terraform a try. In the mean time, I changed metaflow-cfn-template.yml to require 16.11. That gave me a "CREATE_COMPLETE". I'll try running Tutorial 05-hello-cloud and see where I get. If I have problems, I'll switch to terraform. Thanks!!

@eager-activity-66247 we would appreciate a PR to the CFN template if your tests check out

Will do.
